Committee on Radioactive Waste Management
independent scrutiny and advice
Welcome
Welcome to the CoRWM website. We provide independent scrutiny and advice on the UK's management of its solid radioactive waste, including plans for interim storage and geological disposal of higher activity waste. The aim of this site is to provide information about our work and about radioactive waste and its management, and to seek your views.
Your comments on our website
This is the first version of our new site and we would welcome your comments on it and ideas for how it could be improved (contact us).
Your views invited on the outline of CoRWM's Interim Storage report
We would like your input to our report to Government in March 2009 on our interim storage tasks. The report will cover the conditioning, packaging, storage and transport of higher activity wastes, and the management of spent fuels, plutonium and uranium. An outline report and a comment form are now available. We would like your comments by Wednesday 14 January.
This is a first opportunity to give us your views. Your responses will help us to shape our report and will provide input to our conclusions and recommendations. There will be a second opportunity to comment when we draw up a full draft of the report in late January and seek your views on it during February. We also plan to hold a stakeholder workshop in February to discuss the report. In March we shall review the draft, agree a final text and send it to Government.
Your views invited on the Committee's work programme for 2009/10
We would like your views on our future work programme. Our preliminary proposals are now available. We would like your comments by Wednesday 14 January. Again, this is a first opportunity tocomment. We shall draw up a detailed draft work programme in late January and invite your views during February. In March we shall review the draft programme, agree a final version and submit it to Government.
We would welcome your views on any part of our programme, including:
· things that you think should, or should not be included
· timing or other aspects of the programme
